Ok, like many of you I've got loads of theater stuff recorded on video tape that I'd love to transfer onto a digital format. I'm looking for recommendations as to what is the best way to do this.

I know there are recordable VCR/DVD players that burn directly from tape to disc. But the results I've seen have been sketchy at best in terms of picture quality.

Then there is the software option. A program by which you can hook up a VCR to your computer and translate the video tape footage onto a digital file.

What programs or equipment would you recommend?

mods, if this is not allowed, I apologize and please delete.

14 - Elisabeth (historical)
07 - Marie Antoinette

10 - North and South
16 - Georgette Heyer (covers)
01 - The West Wing (quote)

I wanted to make Elisabeth icons, that retained the feel of the musical but didn't use any imagery from it. I used only historical images to create these. But I wanted the feel of crinoline Victorian Europe to fit with a musical with songs such as "Die Schatten werden länger."

Usual rules: don't alter, comment if you take anything, save to your own disc space, credit me (digne) in icon comments :)

Apparently there are rumors that the English version of Kristina Fran Duvemala might be debuting in NY in September.

Considering that most or all of the original performers aren't eligible, who would you like to see cast?

It's been awhile since I've done an icon dump

Icons:
13 -- North and South (and 2 sigs)
10 -- Kristina från Duvemåla

Wallpaper:
2 -- North and South (one based on my paper dolls)
2 -- Rebecca

The 'North and South' ones are mostly from icon challenges. The sigs are old but I realized I forgot to post them to LJ when I made them. But I also am posting some icons from 'Kristina från Duvemåla' my favorite ABBA related musical. It was written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus (the male half of ABBA) but it is as different from 'Mamma Mia' as night from day. And it looks like 'Kristina' will finally have it's English language premiere this September in New York.

Usual rules, save to your own disc space, don't alter, credit me (digne).

I was asked recently where I got the 'Rebecca' photos I use in my graphics. I spent awhile going through my saved links, and thought I might as well share them here as well.

Unfortunately some of the sites I used are no longer up, and many I didn't bother to save the links to if the there were only 1 or 2 photos there. Thus some of my biggest scans no longer seem to be available on the net.

But here's what's still up:

These are pretty small

Same photos as on the official site (but I think missing one)

Small photos but there are tons of them (more than 100!)

A couple good shots

I created a community specifically for the fans of Hungarian musicals at magyar_musicals (because "hungarianmusicals" doesn't fit into 15 letters no matter what you do). I've noticed when talking to other Hungarian musical addicts that we tend to get very obsessive about Hungarians specifically and want to post about 10 times more about them than we dare to do anywhere where the majority of people aren't Hungarian-musical-obsessed, as we don't want to get on everyone else's nerves with our constant spamming. So I thought that community could come in useful so we can spam it to our heart's content, and invite everyone to join who is interested to do so. Just observe the rules laid down in the profile and the first post.
